Dear Kimia, Daniel and Andy,

Firstly, thanks Kimia for your solidarity, the community response to Grenfell has been an inspiration us and we stand in solidarity with your struggle to obtain justice for the victims and survivors and the common struggle to ensure tragedies like those of Grenfell and Maddocks House  never happen again.

I have contacted the LFB via our local station and via the Fire Investigation service a couple of times. I have requested requested a copy of the fire report to no avail. I have also accompanied and assisted one of the victims to request information from the LFB regarding an item of his property, an ebike, which the LFB removed and then placed in the flat, this has subsequently gone missing and we strongly suspect the abusive landlord of 18 Maddocks House currently has the bike in his possession.
I have contributed to two reports on the fire from residents of Tarling West Estate, both of which implicate the LFB, who visited the overcrowded flat prior to the fire. These reports are available at https://tarlingwestestate.wordpress.com

Whilst we are grateful for their work on the night of the fire and have expressed this gratitude to the LFB on several occasions,  since the fire we have seen little to no effort to work with the local community. We would like a copy of the fire report. We would like details of the investigation of the LFB. We would like support for the victims of the fire, former tenants of 18 Maddocks House in the recovery of their possessions. Residents have seen an absolute vacuum of communication emerge from the ashes of the fire.

We are holding a public meeting on the 10 May to provide residents and the local community an account of the conditions that led to the fire, how the fire happened and work together on how we as a local community respond. Many local residents and neighbours in Shadwell suffer similar housing conditions to those suffered by Tarling West residents: characterised by neglect, disrepair, mismanagement and rampant exploitation of local authority housing stock by private landlords and private contractors.
All this must change, and cannot change fast enough, for there have been too many deaths already.
